Grapes
The grape Barbera (in Italian language it’s a feminine noun) is a typical red grape from Piemonte, and the most cultivated in the region. The main feature is her acidity and freshness; she is the only grape in some Piemonte’s DOCG, as Barbera d’Asti, Nizza and Barbera Monferrato Superiore.
This grape is cultivated in Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna, also, where she’s blended with Bonarda and Croatian; also others Italian regions have Barbera vineyards, but in little extensions. The DOCG Barbera d’Asti is aged for 14 month, 6 more in barrel for typology ‘Superiore’.
Disciplinary
The disciplinary (the rules) of DOCG Barbera d’Asti was published in 2008, and there have to be present not less 85% of Barbera grape, added with Freisa, Grignolino and Dolcetto.

Tasting
Intense red color with purple veins. The nose has scents of red fruit, cherry, plum, with vinous sensations and fragrant. On the palate it has good structure and body, with good freshness and persistence medium long.
Pairings
Platter of local cured meats, boiled meats, cooked cured meats, bagnacauda (a typical Piedmont food) and Piedmont mixed fry.
