Chatgpt is an algorithm that takes questions, compares them with documents it has on file, and provides the answer. While waiting for someone to come up with something besides creating images and some commercial releases, chatgpt has managed to create the world's best cocktail for a London cocktail bar.
Otherworld Hackney is a London bar that has started a partnership with Dusk, a startup in the beverage distribution industry. The bar is very much geared toward the virtual world; inside there are rooms where you can wear VR visors and participate in games or adventures in the metaverse.
What they are doing is seeing if it is possible to use ChatGPT for the creation of new cocktails, thus an AI for Beverage.
Dusk submitted a program to the AI to create a new cocktail that could be the "best in the world," and ChatGPT responded by creating a mix called Heavenly Sippers, in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic form. The cocktail has a base of gin, elderflower liqueur, Absinthe, Cointreau, two drops of orange bitters, and a little sparkling wine.
If you would like the recipe for this cocktail, here it is:
Ingredients
25ml gin
5ml fresh lime juice
10ml St-Germain elderflower liqueur
5ml absinthe
25ml Cointreau
Two dashes orange bitters
10ml honey syrup
Sparkling wine
Orange twist for garnish
In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, add the gin, lime juice, elderflower liqueur, absinthe, Cointreau, orange bitters, and honey syrup. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain the mixture into an ice-filled glass and top with sparkling wine. Then garnish with an orange twist and serve.
Virtual Bartender?
400 Heavenly Sipper alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be offered free of charge for one month to Dusk users through a collaboration with Otherworld Hackney. The collaboration was launched on March 20 and will be available until April 20.
According to chatgpt, the new cocktail
...is a refreshing, flavorful drink that combines the acidity of lime, the sweetness of honey, and the subtle floral notes of elderflower, with a hint of anise flavor
I do not know exactly what was asked of chatgpt version 4, and thus based on what it mixed these drinks together. Again it seems more like a marketing operation than an actual creation of a new drink, maybe it's worthless, maybe it's the best mix in the world, I don't know.
But this bot passed the Master Sommelier exams, which doesn't really speak in favor of the exams, to be honest. Of course the program did not take the practical exam, the tasting one, but scored 92 out of 100 on the Court of Master Sommelier introductory test, 86 on the Certified Sommelier exam, and 77 on the Advanced Sommelier exam.
An intelligent Master Sommelier
Not only that, GPT-4 also passed the U.S. law school admission test, the Law School Admission Test, with a score of 163 out of 180, and thus could attend America's top law universities. A Beverage AI that is sommelier, bartender and lawyer.
Of course, cocktail creation and passing the sommelier exams are little more than color, or gossip, on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. But even if these are mere achievements, already someone is beginning to use AI software to do more than just a few commercial releases. By dint of experimentation more serious and important applications will surely be found, and then AI for Beverage will also become a tool in the hands of sommeliers and bartenders.
